Best known as the last queen consort of the House of Tudor. She was the last wife of Henry VIII of England, whom she married on July 12, 1543. They remained married until his death in January 1547. She was his sixth wife and held the title of Queen Consort of England and Ireland. She published three books during her lifetime, supporting the Protestant faith and drawing the ire of Catholics.

She was known for her love of learning. She was fluent in French, Latin, and Italian.

She was the most-married English queen, with a total of four husbands. She was also the first woman in England to publish under her own name, in the English language.

Family Life

She was born in 1512 in the Blackfriars section of London, England. She died in childbirth in 1548. Her stepchildren included Mary I of EnglandElizabeth I of England, and Edward VI, all of whom were children of Henry VIII. Her parents were Sir Thomas Parr and Maud Green. She had a younger brother, William, and a younger sister named Anne. Although there are no extant records, she was likely born in August or late summer.
